I really like this for my back
I really like this massage roller -- the hard plastic base keeps its shape and the top layer of foam has just the right amount of give to make it comfortable against my body. My son introduced this to me when I visited him while I was having lower back pain. I used it to roll all along my back from bottom to top and /crack/, I felt immediate relief in my lower back! It also reduced the tenseness in my upper back. When I got home I bought one for my self right away! Now I use it every day, sometimes twice a day! I have tried harder, smaller-diameter rollers and found them very uncomfortable and ineffective compared to this one.

This thing is absolutely incredible. I was thinking of purchasing a much more expensive inversion therapy machines that hangs you upside down to decompress your spine, but this thing is way cheaper, and far more effective! Not only does rolling on it decompress your spine (you hear that popping noise as your spine is decompressed while you roll on it), it also provides an excellent massage to the muscles in your back. You can also use it to massage your neck as well, which is EXTREMELY helpful. I have knots in my muscles right near my shoulder blades, and if I lay on it slightly at an angle, you can hear and feel those knots being massaged and loosened. One use of this thing per day and I am back pain free ALL DAY. Or, sometimes after a really long day at work I'll use it again just for the massage. You can also use this for various exercises, and it comes with an instruction manual on how to perform them. I used to have a foam roller, but those things ALWAYS lose their shape after a few months. This thing is built to last, it has a very hard core that is coated with soft but also firm rubber, which makes it very comfortable to use, and it will never lose it's shape or go bad. It's extremely durable. By far and away one of the best purchases I have ever made in my life! This thing is worth the extra $10 compared to standard foam rollers. If you have chronic back pain, it is a MUST BUY. This was recommended by my pain management doctor, as I have been suffering from chronic back pain for over a decade. 6/5 stars for this thing!

That's how my back sounded when I used this the first time.

I purchased this to replace one of the cheapo rollers another reviewer recommended instead of this. I don't know where the guy found one for $10, but it isn't at a shop located in reality. Granted, I got two years of multiple daily use before I murdered my old roller, but this Trigger Point is about the same price after tax and that makes it a very good deal.

I ordered black because I don't want a roller that slowly turns disgusting after using it for a while. Orange looks pretty, but it'll look like a homeless CalTrans worker in a month.

The Trigger Point roller has made me an enthusiast once again of self-massage, er... rolling? As a bigger guy, I appreciate the rigidity of the inner tube and using this hurts about as much as the foam roller did when I first started using it. This provides a very deep massage and the foam covering seems to be fairly resilient. Just be careful what you pack it against: some dents from smashing against my running shoes took a long time to come out.

For the different zones of massage, I can't say that it has any functional benefit. I can certainly feel a difference in density with my fingers, but when I'm rolling out my quads or ITB, I'm not sold. This is probably because my quads come from a decade of strength training and running. That's not to say I don't like it: the ribs and knobs provide good traction when using on a hard wood floor: after rocking on one knot for a while, my old foam roller would smash down a bit and just kind of skid. The Trigger Point grabs and rolls like an off-road tire.

The size is also adequate. As in VERY adequate. Some people have said it's too small to roll the entire back at once. I don't have this problem, which is remarkable since I have to go through some doors at an angle because my shoulders are so broad. I can also get both of my hamstrings simultaneously. This has me wondering if some of the negative reviewers actually tried it out before reviewing.

Now for the best feature: packability. I travel a lot for work and hated looking like a dork when getting out of a cab in front of a hotel, loading up my luggage, and checking in with a big foam pool noodle under my arm. The Trigger Point is short enough to easily fit in my carry-on duffle, and because it's hollow, it really doesn't take up much room. That, hands-down, would make up for any problems I could have with it not being long enough, which it totally is.

Buy this if you know what's good for you.

This item is amazing. I am about to buy one for everyone I know. I have always wanted a “foam roller” but just didn’t want to waste space and money on a long piece of foam. I recently saw this on a video for and had to investigate what it was as I didn’t want to use foam yoga block(although it was given as an option). Look no further for roller yoga support, blood circulation, super helpful body stretcher, muscle rubber(even got to knots under my shoulder blade, and exercise support buddy. I am amazed at how I felt the next morning after using it for the first time. It has been tough getting back into the swing of things, after having COVID, especially just feeling like I have lack of blood circulation. I also have had 7 spine surgeries and I have had a rehab specialist work on me, and I know he would approve (in moderation) The Trigger Point opened up muscles and tension getting blood back into areas I don’t think normal exercise would have for me. This is a must buy! My only wish is that is was just a little bit bigger by like 3-4 inches.

Well made, so durable, would buy again. First saw this item at my Life Fitness gym where hundreds of people use them. I use mine once a day where who knows how many people use them at the gym. The gym ones look as good as new despite the abuse. I purchased the small one so I could take it on vacations. After you use it regularly to loosen up muscles after workouts or realigning your back after a long day of sitting at your desk (I slouch too much) this will make your back feel much better. I stuff the center with couple of rolled up jeans when I travel so it hardly takes up any more space than the rolled up pants. It's so durable that I will never need another one.
